The story
From Oran, Algeria-moved to Paris, France where his younger sister Yvette was born in 1941. Forced to live in a children's home in Izieu, France. His mother was deported to Auschwitz but soon escaped arrest. His 3 year old sister Yvette was taken care of by non-Jewish farmers. Richard was deported to Auschwitz on April 13, 1944 with his two brothers Jacques (13) Jean-Claude (5) along with other children from the Izieu home. Richard was murdered in the gas chamber a couple days later.
