Portrait of Richard Laird

Richard Laird

Born in Ardmore, PA, United States on April 9, 1929.

Died in Twain Harte, CA, United States on September 6, 2019.

The story

Richard always said he wanted a big party after he passed, rather than a service or memorial. He was able to enjoy such a party a few months before he died, when his wife, Penny, organized a wonderful get-together, in their beautiful home, in celebration of his 90th birthday. The party was attended by friends, neighbors and family members, and Richard got a chance to enjoy - while he was still alive - a huge outpouring of love and affection befitting a man whose every day on this earth was a celebration of life.

What a beautiful tribute. I loved reading about his adventures and life, but what really defines him is short sheeting the bed. We should all learn from him that life is meant to be fun and we should all live each day to the fullest, which he clearly did. He is smiling down on you, Sherry, and I know his humor and love will stay with you to eternity.

The music that is playing in the background was chosen by Penny - Daddy loved it because it was his mother's favorite. Too bad the website would only allow one piece of music, because Daddy was also a big fan of "Mack the Knife" and Sinatra's "My Way." No surprise there!
