The story

Boarded with her parents Vaclav and Sofie and her sister Marenka ( 3 1/2) on SS Eastland at 7:30 AM for a picnic held at Wesern Electric. Few minutes later-because of the weight of passengers, the huge lake steamer rolled slowly to its side in the Chicago river near the docks. Causing most passengers and crew to drown in the shallow water or to be crushed by falling furniture. Marenka and her father survived the disaster. Only Vlasta and her mother perished.
